The very first Spy Shots of the upcoming Beijing Auto Senova EV300, a new electric car based on the Beijing Auto Senova D50 sedan. The Senova EV300 features a blue grille, because blue = green, but looks otherwise identical to the Senova D50.

The Senova EV300 will be powered by an electric motor with an output of 136hp and 240nm, range will be about 200 kilometer. The Senova EV300 will be positioned above the recently launched Senova EV200. Price before green-car subsidies by central and local governments will start around 200.000 yuan.

The petrol-powered Senova D50. Price starts at 74.800 yuan and ends at 119.800 yuan. Lone engine is a 1.5 four with 113hp, mated to a five-speed manual or a CVT. The electric version thus, will be more powerful than the petrol-version, but whether that is enough to convince buyers to pay a fat premium for the electric remains to be seen.

Beijing Auto showed this EV300 concept on the Shanghai Auto Show, with a new and more aerodynamic front end, which we might see one day on a facelifted D50.

  1. I prefer the single bar grille of the D50, as this one is too common, appearing on other models, like the E150, D70, etc..
    And the batteries? Lead acid, or LifePo4 perhaps…
