How Chrysler helped to arm the Chinese army

Earlier on I wrote an article about how AM General helped China develop its Humvee-clone, the Dongfeng EQ 2050. But AM General was not the only American company helping to arm the Chinese army, there was another one; it was Chrysler.

Pic above shows the Beijing-Jeep 2022. Beijing-Jeep was a Chinese-American joint venture with Beijing Auto Works (BAW) and Chrysler. The Beijing-Jeep 2022 later changed name to Beijing 2022 and it now the most widely used 4×4 in the Chinese army.

Spy Shot: Hongqi C131 getting Ready in China

This is the very first spy shot of the Hongqi C131 without any camouflage. The C131 will debut as a concept at the April 2012 Beijing Auto Show. It is based on the Toyota Crown from the FAW-Toyota joint venture, FAW is also the owner of the Hongqi brand.

Kia K2 hatchback to be listed in China in April 2012

Kia K2 hatchback

The Kia K2 hatchback debuted last week at the Guangzhou Auto Show. It will be listed in April next year, price will start around 70.000 yuan. Power comes from a 1.4 with 107hp or a 1.6 123hp. The Kia K2 is made in China by the Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia joint venture. Via: Autohome.

Volkswagen Polo GTI to be listed in China next Year

Volkswagen Polo GTI China

The Volkswagen Polo GTI will be listed on the China car market sometime around June next year. The Polo GTI will be made by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture, the very first time a GTI-model is made domestically. Power comes from a 1.4 TSI with 180hp and 250nm, mated to a 7-speed DSG. Spy Shots: Beijing Auto B80V, Mercedes-Benz G-class cloned

Beijing Auto is on the cloning-path again. Earlier on they did the Mercedes-Benz B-class for the BC301, and now they got their hands on the iconic G-class for the new Beijing Auto B80V which will likely debut as a concept on the April 2012 Beijing Auto Show. One black example was seen transported not far from the factory in Beijing. It has all the badges ans loox ready for production.

Supercar Wedding in China, number 6, Movie

Another supercar wedding from China (see the others here, here, here, here and here.) The wedding is in the great city of Fuzhou in Fujian province. The coastal area of Fujian, which included the capital Fuzhou, is a very wealthy area. Most wealth comes from export but also from old fashioned fishery. The movie shows a Rolls Royce Phantom for the newly weds and then an amazing line of supercars including some 5 Lamborghini Gallardo’s.

Subaru to be branded as Chery in China

The proposed joint venture between Japanese automaker Subaru and China’s Chery is ready to be approved, sources involved in the matter say.

According to reports from Chinese media, the Chinese government has imposed two conditions to Subaru’s owner Fuji Heavy Industries. First and foremost, the Japanese need to allow their vehicles to be branded with the Chery logo and secondly, the sales network in China should be headed by Chery.

Chery Cowin 5 to be listed in China early 2012

The Chery Cowin 5 debuted as an ‘almost-ready-concept’ as the Shanghai Auto Show in April. Still, it takes Chery a lot of time to bring it to the market, as usual. Latest is that the Cowin 5 will be listed early next year, likely after the April 2012 Beijing Auto Show.

New Toyota Camry to be listed in China next Month

The new Toyota Camry debuted in China in early November. The new car will be listed before the end of the year, sometime in late December. Price will start around 190.000 yuan. The Camry is made in China by the Guangzhou-Toyota joint venture. Via: Autohome.

Ferrari California in Pink

The Ferrari California is the first Ferrari especially designed for Paris Hilton. No surprise then that a beautifully pink example turned up in Beijing. No wrap on this one, it is a genuine pink paint-job. It was parked in from of a semi-expensive restaurant in a residential area in the east of da city.
