Volkswagen is working on a hatchback version of the Lavida, a China-only sedan made by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture. The facelifted Lavida sedan just debuted at the Beijing Auto Show last month, and the Lavida hatchback is expected to hit the Chinese car market in 2013. It will likely be called ‘Lavida RV’, many Chinese automakers call their hatchbacks ‘RV’ and Volkswagen seems to go with that flow.

The Lavida hatchback will get the same engines as the sedan: 1.4 turbo and 1.6. Price-wise the Lavida hatchback will sit just under the Golf and just above the Polo. The Golf is made in China by Volkswagen’s other joint venture, FAW-Volkswagen. Price of the Lavida starts at 112.800 yuan, hatchback will start around 100.000. Golf starts at 118.900 and Polo at 85.800 yuan. Volkswagen sure got enough cars…
