The Chrysler 300C has been launched on the Chinese car market. There is only one and it costs 486.900 yuan, or 76.000 USD, and that is even more expensive than expected. The reason for this ridiculous price is that the 300C is imported and not made locally.

Chrysler 300C hits the Chinese car market

This is quite bad because all of the competition is made in China, like the Audi A6, BMW 5, Mercedes-Benz E-class and Volvo S80. This serious disadvantage means the 300C won’t sell in high volumes, only ‘real fans’ will buy it for this price.  Lone engine is the 3.6 V6.  The old 300C was made in China by the now dead Beijing-Chrysler joint venture, but was even then on the expensive side and never very popular.

  1. Eh there are enough Chinese who buy things just because they are expensive they will be happy to pay the price. There is also a large contingent in the larger cities who prefer things made in other countries. They thing vehicles made in China are inferior to vehicles made in other countries.

    I find the attitude interesting.

So it will sell, but only to rich people. Too bad they aren’t bringing the SRT version, now that would be a monster that I bet many Chinese would pay a premium for.
