Very sharp lines here! Design is basically the same as the concept car, only the front and rear lights are slightly different.

Some reports in Chinese media indicate the Haima Yao is based on the Mazda 6 Rui Yi (current Mazda 6) that is made in China by the FAW-Mazda joint venture, the same platform also underpins the FAW-Besturn B90. FAW is the largest share holder in Haima.

Wheelbase of the Yao is said to be about 2800mm, the Mazda 6 Rui Yi wheelbase is 2725. Length of the Yao is 4845, length of the Rui Yi is 4745.

Power will come from a 175hp 1.8 turbo, mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The engine is not from Mazda but is developed by FAW and will also be used in various Besturn-branded vehicles.

  1. Exterior looks impressive, and this confirms my feeling that Haima will be one of the first Chinese automotive brands to become a global brand.

However FAW need to start developing their own platforms. They are at least now introducing their own engines but they MUST start introducing their own platforms too.

  2. It may be an important step for Haima to develop their own platforms and engines, but if they use Mazda components, it´s a huge advantage for them when service and maintenance is considered. It´s no problem to put a Haima into a service station of a Mazda dealer when they use the same platform and the same engine.

  3. True, but Haima needs to develop their own platforms as they are by far the best FAW brand, and one of the best chinese car brands, and if they want to stay that way and build a good international reputation
