Patent Applied: facelift for the Foton Midi in China

Foton has applied for patent on a facelift for the Foton Mini MPV in China. Foton is a subsidiary of Beijing Auto Industry Corporation (BAIC), focused on commercial vehicles. The facelifted Midi will be launched on the Chinese car market before the end of this year. The facelift included a new grille with a fat chrome bar, new headlights, a new front bumper, and some smaller changes at the back.

The current Foton Midi. Price starts at 59.800 yuan and ends at 66.400 yuan. Engines: 85hp 1.3 and a 105hp 1.5, noth mated to a 5-speed manual. The engines will continue in the facelifted Midi and price will be about the same.

A shiny big grille is still an important status symbol in China, and even the cheapest cars can’t do without. It used to be just the local Chinese car makers adding loads of chrome, but the foreign brands are getting into the game too; check this Honda Crider for example.
