Spy shots showing a new mini MPV by Chang’an Automotive code named G101. The G101 is based on the Starlight 4500 minivan. The Starlight is commercial in character where the G101 will be purely aimed at the Chinese passenger car market.
The overhang at the back is at least 20 centimeters longer than on the Starlight 4500. The G101 will seat five in comfort or seven in slightly less comfort, where the Starlight 4500 can seat up to ten in extreme discomfort. The G101 will be available with two engines: a 92hp 1.3 that is also used to power the Starlight 4500 and a 106hp 1.5 that is also used in the Chang’an Ounuo.
The G101 will be launched on the Chinese car market before the end of this year. Price will start around 60.000 yuan.
The Starlight 4500 is a quite different configuration with side-hinged rear doors. This configuration, with raked front body line, looks more like the latest “Star” van. Chang’an’s van selection is broad and the names are confusing.
There’s Captain Kirk’s van. Change.the.fucking.logo!
Some more new vans from Changan:
1) An upcoming midsize van is the V5 (SC6450KQ41) based on the Wang truck.
2) The smaller Shenqi truck is getting a passenger van version (SC6415AV4).
3) From earlier this year, the facelifted “old” Star (SC6368B4Y), with the front clip of the “Star 2” (similar to facelifted Starlight 6395FV/6345FV).
And,of course, there is the bigger Zunhang.
