The new Citroen C-Elysee will be launched on the China car market on September 26. The current C-Elysee, based on the first generation Citroen ZX, will continue as a super-cheap budget car, likely to be called ‘C-Elysee Classic’. The current and new C-Elysee are made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture.

The current C-Elysee. Price starts at 73.800 and ends at 88.800 yuan. Lone engine is a 1.6 with 106hp.

Price of the new C-Elysee will start around 80.000 yuan. Power will come from that very same 1.6 tuned up to 114hp, mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. A 1.8 and a high-tech 1.2 turbo will be added to the line-up in 2014. The 1.2 turbo will become the top-spec engine, with the 1.8 sitting in the middle.

The C-Elysee is basically the same car as the new Peugeot 301 which will be made in China by Dongfeng-PSA too, it will be launched in the first half of 2014.

The C-Elysee and 301 will compete head-to-head with the Volkswagen Jetta, the Volkswagen Santana, the Skoda Rapid and the Guangzhou Auto GA3.
