The facelifted BYD F0 mini car debuted on the Salon International de l’Automobile d’Alger in Algeria, North Africa. Algeria is one of the largest export markets for BYD but the early debut is still a surprise as it was expected for the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. It also is the first time that BYD debuts a new car outside China, showing the brand is committed to its export business.

The outgoing BYD F0 was launched on the China car market in early 2009. Price starts at 36.900 yuan and ends at 46.900 yuan, making the F0 a bargain mini car on the Chinese auto market. Power comes from a 1.0 liter 3-cylinder petrol engine with 70hp and 90nm. Top speed is 151km/h.

The facelifted BYD F0 will continue to use the same engine and price will be about the same. Debut in China still scheduled for the Beijing show, and it will be launched on the China car market in May.

  1. Does BYD still not have a proper design studio?

Does BYD hire random people off the streets to be car designers?

Come on, BYD! Your technology passes the muster, and it’s about time that you up your design game.

  2. And the back window rolls down now… A big premiere, as even new Renault Twingo, Peugeot 108, Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo (F0 is the copy…) do not have this feature!

  3. Interior materials just seems a bit better but in reality the are exactly the same in the ancient one. Now the rear glasses can be opened but they can’t be controlled from the front, and the opening of the tailgate is made now by a push button and not by the key like the old one.
