The Haval H9 SUV will finally get the promised twin-turbocharged V6 engine, it will be launched on the Chinese car market in May. There will be two variants: a low pressure version with 295hp and 480nm, and an absolute monstrous high pressure version with 310hp and… 650nm! And that makes it the torquiest passenger car engine ever manufactured in China. It will be mated to an eight-speed automatic, sending power to all four wheels.

Haval will also launch a high-pressure version of the current 2.0 turbo, with an output of 241hp and 350nm. The current ‘low pressure’ 2.0 turbo has 214hp and 324nm. The new high-pressure 2.0 turbo is mated to the eight-speed automatic. Last but not least, Haval is going to launch a diesel, a 2.0 turbo with 187hp and 420nm, mated again to the eight-speed auto. This engine is mainly aimed at export markets.

  1. While it’s good that Haval are finally refreshing/diversifying their inventory of engines, this is long over-due. They should not have made their international debut in Oz without these engines.
The brilliant first impression that the new engines would have made are gone. Guess Haval would have to take the long route like the Japanese/Koreans.
