SUV-Coupe’s are the big trend in China at the moment. This is the next one: the Changan CS85. It looks daring with its enormous shiny grille, large lights, even larger mirrors, and a lot of creases all over its bodywork.
The CS85 is based on the same platform as the Changan CS75, a conventional 5-door SUV.
The CS85 will be available with two engines: a 178 hp 1.5 turbo and a 233 hp 2.0 turbo. The latter will be mated to an 8-speed automatic. Size: 4720/1845/1665, and wheelbase is 2705.
Price will start around 140.000 yuan and end around 200.000 yuan. The Changan CS85 will debut on the Chengdu Auto Show in September.
Changan hopes that the CS85 will work as a halo model for the rest of the range, especially for the CS75. And that is not the end of the SUV-Coupe madness at Changan. They are working on another one, to be positioned above the CS95 SUV.
It’s getting harder and harder to tell these SUV/coupe/Whatevers apart. They’re all so f*cking boring! Makes me long for the days when all chinese cars were copycats of western cars. At least they ripped off interesting designs back then.
copy of a copy of a copy… its getting sad
Well, it is “inspired” by the BMW X6. You could call it a copy if you like…
