We got to go back to the Geneva Motor Show because all the excitement about Borgward and Volkswagen made us almost miss an incredible hybrid supercar from China that had its world debut in Switzerland.
The blue monster is called the TechRules GT96 TREV, it has 1044 horsepower and a 2000 kilometer range. TREV stands for ‘Turbine-Recharging Electric Vehicle’, basically a hybrid combining an electric motor and a turbine-engine range extender.
A slightly sexed up Beijing-Jeep Cherokee 2500, seen on a local tuning show in Beijing. The good Jeep is modified to an impressive extend. The CAS 2015 is one of the biggest tuning shows in China, with a lot of wings and a lot of revs. They also have a lot of babe, pretty and not, with airbags and without. Happily, tuning shows are not as politically sensitive as new-auto shows, so almost every pretty is allowed. Starting with a sweetie in orange with mismatching fingernails.
Over the weekend we had the ‘2015 CAS Shanghai’, one of the largest annual tuning shows of China. On the stand of local tuner Match Racing Gallop (MRG) we found a purple wrapped BMW Z4 with Lambo doors flanked by a somewhat unusual Chinese car girl.
The Thunder Power EV debuted on the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, looking super sleek and super fast, designed by non other than the famous Italian design studio Zagato. Grille is a massive eye catcher, supported by boomerang headlights and enormous wheels with shiny multispoke alloys. Is this then going to beat the crap out of Tesla, more so than the Aoxin Ibis and the Youxia X?
The BX7 will launch on the Chinese car market in the first half of 2016, followed by India and Brazil in 2017, and followed by Europe in 2018. The BX7 will be manufactured in the Chinese capital Beijing by Foton Motor. Debut in China is expected for the Guangzhou Auto Show in December.
The Chinese stock market is up like a bitch-done-her-job so the country needs more special edition Bentley cars. Here we have the massively expensive Bentley Mulsanne Mulliner 24K Gold Edition, it debuted yesterday on the Hong Kong Shenzhen Macau Auto Show in the great city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province, one of the richest cities in country and home to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
This is the mellow-yellow Rodi RD220 Scootercar, seen last month on the Shandong EV Expo (intro) in Jinan City. The Rodi D220 Scootercar is is designed for holiday resorts and features a striking design centered around a steel structure starting at the nose, going up to the roof, en ending down the sides. The vehicle is designed by a fellow Dutchman (Delft!) and the man in charge of production in China hails from Holland as well. May they succeed.
