Spy shots from the facelifted Jeep Grand Cherokee testing in China, it will be launched on the Chinese car market early next year, debut is expected for the April 2013 Shanghai Auto Show. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is imported into China, the second generation Grand Cherokee WJ was made in China from 2005 until 2008 by the diseased Beijing-Jeep joint venture.
Here we have a very stealthy Jeep Wrangler, seen in an underground parking lot in the great city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province by reader & serial spotter Josh F., thanks for the pics! The Wrangler loox very mean in matte black and the wrap is correctly applied all over the bumpers, mirrors and hard-top. This vehicle is similar in style as a matte black Land Rover we met earlier on.
The car: a Jeep Patriot.
The plan: a Chinese-style parade car, much like the Changfeng Liebao.
A mad project we dig big. A tuning-club in the great city of Fuzhou in Fujian Province decided to do something very special; turning a fine but rather boring Jeep Patriot into a full-spec Chinese-style parade car. This sorta parade cars do really exist, see link under pic, and are still widely used by the army. The Fuzhou-project however is meant for da fun, and that is even better. The madness started a week ago and progress is impressive:
It has been an interesting week. We saw a Chinese car company copying the true American Ford F150 and Chevy
Silverado Colorado. This one however, beats all. Here we have a Chinese beer brand from the great city of Jingzhou in Hubei Province called ‘Jeep Beer’ (吉普啤酒). ‘USA Jeep Group Limited’, a pic of a Jeep, ‘Jeep’s Premium Quality Beer’, and ‘Just for Man’.
Stealing Jeep-things for beer is really bad, but what really pisses me off is that they also copied the famous tilted ‘e’, the red star, and the label’s overall design from the great beermaker Heineken from the Netherlands, My Home Country! That ‘e’ alone has been copyrighted a zillion times!
The Fiat-Chrysler group is in intense negotiations with the Guangzhou Automobile Group on a possible joint venture to produce Jeeps in China, for the Chinese market.
Fiat SpA already has established a joint venture with Guangzhou. It is putting the final touches on a new compact for China that will be based on the same architecture as the recently unveiled 2013 Dodge Dart.
The brilliant Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 has been listed on the China car market. Price is 1.1999 million yuan or 190.000 USD. Power comes from a 6.4 Hemi V8 with 461hp and 624nm, and that is just good enough for standing in a traffic jam. Via: Sohu.com.
Jeep CEO Mike Manley hopes to negotiate a deal in the next several weeks that will result in Jeep production in China. Manley departed for China Wednesday to negotiate a deal with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co Ltd., a Chinese company that has a joint venture with Fiat.
The Jeep Patriot SUV will be listed on the Chinese market in June. It will be an import, Chrysler-Jeep has yet to secure a deal for local production. Imported means expensive, more expensive than most of the competition that is produced in China. The Patriot is powered by a 2.4 mated to a tiptronic CVT.
Alibaba.com is Asia’s biggest trade website, many small companies try to get their stuff noticed abroad. The Chinese are the funniest with all their copycats and these include a lot of cars. Today the first one: this Jeep 800cc by a company called Ningbo Yinzhou Lizhong Vehicle Co., Ltd. from Ningbo in Zhejiang Province.
