New spy shots showing the China-only stretched Skoda Yeti, disguised here as a Suzuki. The Chinese Yeti will be stretched by 6 centimeter for more space in the back, it will be made in China by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture. The stretched Yeti is expected to debut on the Chengdu Auto Show in September.

For comparison. The Euro-made Skoda Yeti is currently imported into China, priced from 293.000 yuan to 332.800 yuan. Price for the locally made Yeti will start under 200.000 yuan. The China-made Skoda Yeti will be available with a 1.4 TSI or a 1.8 TSI, mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG. Wheelbase is 2638mm, compared with 2578 for the Euro-made Yeti.

Many automakers make stretched versions of various vehicles for the Chinese car market, where buyers like more space in the back. A stretch by only six centimeters however seems a lot of trouble for very little extra.
