Spy Shots: long-wheelbase version of the Nissan Teana for the China car market

Spy shots showing the long-wheelbase variant of the Nissan Teana, it will be launched on the China car market late this year. Wheelbase has been stretched by 13.5 centimeter for more space in the back. The long-wheelbase Teana will be sold alongside the existing standard-wheelbase Teana.

Standard-wheelbase variant, compare the roof line behind B-pillar.

The Nissan Teana is made in China by the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture. The current car was launched on the Chinese car market in March. Price starts at 177.800 yuan and ends at 244.800 yuan. Engines: 2.0 with 140hp and 190nm and a 2.5 V6 with 185hp and 234nm, both mated to a CVT.

The long-wheelbase version, which will likely be called ‘Teana VIP’, gets rectangular style exhaust pipes, a large panoramic sunroof, and loads of luxury goodies inside.  Engines will be the same as available in the standard-wheelbase car. Price will start around 220.000 yuan. The long-wheelbase Teana is the first stretched car is this segment. It will be interesting to see if others follow, cars such as the Volkswagen Magotan, Volkswagen Passat, Buick Lacrosse, Kia K5 and Citroen C5.

Teana SWB:   4868/1830/1490, wheelbase is 2775.
Teana LWB:   5003/1830/1490, wheelbase is 2910.
