BYD is working on electric super car and hybrid SUV
Chinese media say BYD is working on a full-electric super car and a hybrid SUV. The super car will be called E9 and sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.9 seconds. For comparison, the Tesla Roadster needs 3.7 seconds. The super car will debut, likely as a concept first, sometime in 2014.
The hybrid SUV will be called ‘Tang’ (唐). The power train will be similar in design to the power train of the BYD Qin sedan, but with a 2.0 turbo instead of a 1.5 turbo. Combined output will be around 350hp, good for a 0-100 in only 4.9 seconds. The Tang will debut in the second quarter of 2014.
Exciting plans, exciting power; is BYD finally getting its Mojo back?
