New spy shots of the Haval H9 SUV, the upcoming flagship of the Haval brand. The Haval H9 will debut on the April 2014 Beijing Auto Show and it will be launched on the China car market in the first half of 2014. The H9 will be positioned above the new Haval H8 SUV and marketed a truly off-road capable car.

Note off road-ish winch under the grille. The Haval H9 will be available with two brand new Great Wall developed engines: a 2.0 turbo with 218hp and 324nm mated to a 6-speed automatic, and a very hot 3.0 V6 turbo with 333hp and 480nm, mated to an 8-speed automatic. Drive train is a new all-wheel drive system, which, according to some Chinese automotive media, is copied from the Toyota Prado.

Very fancy interior showing Haval is able to combine off-road blabla with decent luxury. Sporty dials makes sense with such fat engines. Screen sits perfectly high up in the center console. Wood is always good but it looks a bit out of place so close to a large swath of black plastic.

The 2.0 turbo.

Small off road tires fitted on test car. Won’t look and ride very well in the cities, where most of these Haval H9 SUV’s will find a home.
