The new Wuling Baojun 730 MPV debuted on the Beijing Auto Show, the first MPV under the Baojun brand. The Baojun 730 will be launched on the China car market in Q3, rice will start around 70.000 yuan and end around 120.000 yuan.
Dash very luxurious for the segment. Nice materials and a large screen.
Size: 4685\1785\1735, wheelbase is 2750.
Baojun is an entry level brand under the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture, in which GM has a 43% stake. The other partners are SAIC (aka Shanghai Auto) and Wuling Automotive. SAIC and GM are tied up in the giant Shanghai-GM joint venture that makes Buick, Chevrolet, and Cadillac cars for the Chinese market.
This ‘mini-MPV’ segment is fast becoming red hot in China as ever more car buyers appreciate the practically of an MPV over the rigidity of a sedan for the same price. Mini MPV’s used to be mini vans with extra seats, but lately they have become a class of their own with more luxury and larger engines added. The 730 fits perfectly in this trend.
