XPeng G9 SUV to launch on September 21 in China, delivery starts later this year

The XPeng G9 will officially launch on September 21 and delivery is expected to start in the fourth quarter of this year, according to the carmaker.

XPeng stated that the G9 SUV is its first vehicle designed for the international market.

The Xpeng G9 is a long-nosed, smooth SUV. The size of the car is 4891/1937/1680mm with a 2998mm wheelbase.

In terms of safety, the XPeng G9 is equipped with two NVIDIA DRIVE Orin chips with a combined computing power of 508 TOPs and 31 sensors, including 2 lidars, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 12 cameras.

The interior comes with dual 14.96-inch center screens and a 10.25-inch instrument panel. The center screens run on Snapdragon 8155 CPUs. There are no buttons on the dash or center console.

The center console houses dual wireless phone charging pads, a couple of cup holders, and a two-way opening center armrest storage. There’s also storage under the center console for larger items, where you’ll also find USB & 12v sockets.

For sound, XPeng fitted the G9 with a 2250W 28-speaker Dynaudio Confidence Series sound system.

The front seats are equipped with heat, ventilation, and massage functions with the rear seats having heat, ventilation, and massage on the top trim. 

The XPeng G9 is the first mass-produced car in China to be equipped with an 800V high-voltage Silicon Carbide (SiC) system. Its 480KW charging capability is able to achieve a 200km (CTLC) range in just 5 minutes. What is more impressive is that it can charge from 10-80% in 15mins.

Furthermore, the XPeng G9 comes in two versions. The RWD version is equipped with a single electric motor on the rear axle for 230kW (313hp) and will be able to run up to 702km. The Performance version is AWD with two electric motors, combined power of 405kW (551hp), peak torque of 717Nm, acceleration time from 0 – 100km/h is 3 seconds, and a lower range of 650km. The top speed of both versions is limited to 200km/h.
