On May 9, Haval officially confirmed that its latest brand-new SUVs called Xiaolong and Xiaolong Max will launch on May 15. Xiaolong is a compact SUV while Xiaolong Max is a mid-size SUV. In August 2022, Haval announced that it will stop the sales of ICE vehicles by 2030. The Xiaolong series is one of Haval’s key milestones toward its electrification goal.
Both models are equipped with Haval’s latest design language. Xiaolong adopts a closed grille design while Xiaolong Max adopts a mesh grille design. Their dimensions are as follows:
- Xiaolong: 4600/1877/1675mm with a 2710mm wheelbase
- Xiaolong Max: 4785/1895/1725mm with a 2800mm wheelbase
Haval Xiaolong Max’s “7”-shaped headlights are sharp, giving it a strong visual impact. From the side, the blackened roof rack, wheel eyebrows, and side skirts further enhance the sportiness of the car. Furthermore, both models have roof spoilers and high-mounted brake lights.
Coming to the interior, Haval Xiaolong adopts a full black vibe, a dual-screen design comprising a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 14.6-inch central control screen, and a three-spoke steering wheel. Wireless charging is supported.
The Haval Xiaolong Max adopts a dual-color interior and a triple-screen design comprising a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, a 12.3-inch central control screen, and a 12.3-inch co-pilot entertainment screen.
The compute platform will be supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.
In terms of power, Haval Xiaolong will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5L engine and a front electric motor. The engine’s maximum power is 101 hp and the peak torque is 132 Nm, mated to a 2-speed DHT. Its NEDC pure electric cruising ranges are 52 km and 110 km, and its comprehensive cruising range is expected to exceed 1,000 km.
Haval Xiaolong Max will be powered by Great Wall Motors’ Hi4 electric hybrid four-wheel drive system consisting of a 1.5L engine and front & rear dual motors. The combined output of the system is 279 hp and 585 Nm, and the system is also mated to a 2-speed DHT. Its NEDC pure electric cruising range is 105 km and its 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 6.5 seconds.
