This is Hongqi’s brand-new upcoming SUV called HS3. It was unveiled earlier at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show and will launch on July 17. Only a 1770 yuan (244 USD) deposit is required to make a reservation. Hongqi HS3 will fill the brand’s current product vacancy in the compact SUV market segment and might be the brand’s cheapest SUV model when launched.
In terms of appearance, the headlight group adopts a refreshing C-shape and the front face has a large polygonal grille decorated with Hongqi’s iconic vertical nine bars. And of course, the Hongqi logo extends from the engine cover to the front grille.
The rear comes with a roof spoiler and high-mounted brake lights. The taillight group runs across the entire rear. The lower part is decorated with chrome-plated strips.
Positioned as a compact SUV and below the current Hongqi HS5, the size of Hongqi HS3 is 4655/1900/1668mm, and a wheelbase of 2770mm. Customers can choose from six exterior colors, including white, gray, black, white + black roof, green + black roof, and blue + black roof. It also comes with a panoramic sunroof.
From the side, the roof has luggage racks. The blackened pillars create a suspended roof effect. The car runs on five-spoke petal shape rims.
The interior is equipped with a three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, and a 12.6-inch vertical central control screen. Depending on the model, other interior features include keyless entry, adaptive cruise control, and 253-color ambient lights.
The center console has two wireless charging pads and two cup holders.
Additionally, Hongqi HS3 offers a 5-seater layout. The front seats can be electronically adjusted and support heating/ventilation.
Two powertrain options are available:
- 1.5T engine + 7-speed wet DCT: maximum power = 124 kW, peak torque = 258 Nm, 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time = 9.9 seconds, top speed = 195 km/h.
- 2.0T engine + 8AT: maximum power = 185 kW, peak torque = 380 Nm, 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time = 7.2 seconds, top speed = 220 km/h.
