2024 Haval Big Dog off-road SUV launched in China, price starts at 17,300 USD

Today, July 25, Great Wall Motors officially launched its 2024 Haval Big Dog SUV with a price range of 123,900 – 149,900 yuan (17,300 – 21,000 USD). As a facelift model of the First-Generation Big Dog, the new Haval Big Dog welcomes minor exterior upgrades and an enhanced 2.0T engine for its powertrain.

The new car measures 4620/1890/1780mm, and the wheelbase is 2738mm. In the front, the thicker silver bars decorating the grille and the black bumper make the new car look more off-road. The LED headlights still maintain a circular design. The rear remains largely unchanged except for the new through-type taillight group and the Haval logo adopts a new font.

As a light off-road SUV, the 2024 Haval Big Dog has an approach angle of 24 degrees, a departure angle of 30 degrees, a passing angle of 22 degrees, and a minimum ground clearance of 200mm under no-load conditions. In addition, the new car runs on either 18-inch or 19-inch wheels.

Inside, small design tweaks were made including the use of a U-shaped central control screen and a rotary shifter. The interior has a 12.3-inch central control screen, a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel.

Other configurations include a level 2 advanced driving assistance system with functions such as remote control parking and high-speed driving assistance, a head-up display, a 540-degree view around the vehicle, and wireless charging.

Furthermore, the front seats support ventilation and massage functions.

Coming to the powertrain, the 2024 Haval Big Dog continues to provide 1.5T and enhanced 2.0T engine options. The 2.0T engine outputs 238 hp and 385 Nm, an increase of 27 hp and 60 Nm compared with the previous model, respectively; and mated to a 9-speed DCT. Its comprehensive fuel consumption is 8.35L/100km. The 1.5T engine remains unchanged with a maximum power of 184 hp and a peak torque of 275 Nm, mated to a 7-speed DCT. Its comprehensive fuel consumption is 7.46L/100km.

According to Great Wall Motors, more than 28,000 Haval Big Dogs were sold within the first 97 days of its launch. In recent months, the sales volume of Haval Big Dog has stabilized at around 10,000 units, second only to Haval H6 under the Haval brand.
