Recently, BYD announced a significant milestone for its BYD Dolphin electric vehicle (EV), revealing that it has achieved sales of over 462,000 units in the two years since its launch. The BYD Dolphin entered the market in August 2021, with initial sales of 1,755 units that month. Since then, its popularity has continued to soar. Notably, in August 2023, BYD Dolphin recorded sales of 32,745 units, equating to an average of more than 1,000 units sold daily.
A noteworthy trend is the expansion of BYD Dolphin’s market reach beyond China. With increased production capacity, BYD Dolphin has begun supplying markets in the Asia Pacific and Latin America. In 2021, 27 units of this model were exported, followed by 1,303 units in 2022. From January to August 2023, 28,387 units were shipped, and this figure is expected to continue growing, solidifying BYD Dolphin’s status as one of BYD’s main overseas models.
The BYD Dolphin is a compact electric hatchback that appeals to young, tech-savvy consumers. It is available in three models with price ranges from 111,000 to 131,000 RMB (15,200 USD to 18,000 USD). Built on BYD’s e-platform 3.0, it is powered by BYD LFP Blade batteries.
