BYD Song L all-electric SUV will start pre-sale on October 31, price may start at 34,100 USD

On October 29, BYD announced that its brand new Song L fastback SUV will be released and pre-sales will begin at 19:00 Beijing Time on October 31. The starting price is expected to be around 250,000 yuan (34,100 USD), available in single-motor and dual-motor powertrains.

The BYD Song L is built on the e-Platform 3.0 and is equipped with CTB (cell-to-body) battery technology and a DiSus suspension system. Based on the latest Dragon Face design language, the front face has elements of “dragon teeth” and “dragon whiskers”, according to the carmaker. The rear has through-type taillights and an electric wing. Other notable design elements include the star-shaped rims, frameless doors, and hidden door handles. The body size is 4840/1950/1560 mm, and the wheelbase is 2930 mm.

The interior is dark gray decorated with a hint of fluorescent green, covered in suede material. There is a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, a large 15.6-inch floating central control screen, and a 50-inch AR-HUD. The in-vehicle system comes from the latest generation of BYD’s DiLink operating system as well as the DiPilot advanced driving assistance system, which supports more than 30 functions such as driver fatigue monitoring and autonomous parking.

The center console has two cup holders, a 50W mobile phone wireless charging pad, and a crystal gear shifter. At the same time, the lower front part of the center console is hollow to increase storage capacity.

The car can seat five people as the standard, wrapped in leather/suede materials. In addition, the front seats can be electronically adjusted and support heating and ventilation.

The rear single-motor model is available in low and high-power versions: 150 kW (asynchronous motor) and 230 kW (permanent magnet synchronous motor), respectively. The dual-motor model has a front and rear motor, with a combined power of 380 kW. The top speed is 201 km/h and the 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 4.3 seconds. Two Blade battery packs with 71.808 kWh and 87.04 kWh capacity are offered, providing cruising ranges of 550 km, 602 km, and 662 km.
