As the first new energy sedan under Wuling, the Starlight plug-in hybrid sedan, launched on December 6, 2023, had amassed a cumulative sales of 18,294 units in the first month of its launch. For reference, Wuling Starlight currently offers two models for consumers to choose from, with a price range of 88,800 – 105,800 yuan (12,400 – 14,800 USD). The pure electric version is expected to be launched on the market in the first half of 2024.
It is worth pointing out that 70% of the sales came from consumers aged between 18 and 35 years old.
The Wuling Starlight is positioned as a medium-sized sedan, with dimensions of 4835/1860/1515 mm and a wheelbase of 2800 mm.
The fastback shape, 18-inch star-shaped rims, and semi-hidden door handles create a sporty atmosphere, and the windows are outlined with chrome trims to enrich the layering.
Coming to the interior, the cockpit is equipped with a flat-bottomed two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, an 8.8-inch LCD instrument panel, and a 15.6-inch central control screen. The vehicle operating system comes from Ling OS and supports navigation, remote control, OTA updates, and Bluetooth.
Furthermore, the front seats can be folded back 180° and connected to the rear seat to form a flat bed. The standard trunk volume is 540 liters and there is a 33 liters storage compartment under the seat. At the same time, a panoramic sunroof is absent.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain system consists of a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine and an electric motor, mated to a DHT. The engine outputs 78 kW and 130 Nm while the motor outputs 130 kW and 320 Nm. The two lithium iron phosphate battery pack options of 9.5 kWh and 20.5 kWh provide corresponding CLTC pure electric cruising ranges of 70 km and 150 km, respectively; and a comprehensive cruising range of 1,100 km.
DC fast charging is only available for the 20.5 kWh battery pack version and takes 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%.
