On April 25, the Jiyue 07 was unveiled at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, officially positioned as an AI intelligent pure electric sedan. Its launch is scheduled to be in the second half of this year. The 07 is Jiyue’s second mass-produced model after the Jiyue 01.
Jiyue was first established in 2021 as Jidu, a joint venture (JV) between Baidu and Geely. However, due to Jidu unable to secure a mass-production license, the JV was restructured to become Jiyue. Under the new name, Geely holds 65% of the JV responsible for the manufacturing while Baidu is responsible for the software, ADAS, and connectivity.
Overall, the Jiyue 07 adopts a fastback design with a smooth contour, including handleless electric induction doors, giving it a drag coefficient of 0.198Cd. Its closed front face signifies its EV identity, coupled with the Y-shaped intelligent interactive headlight group.
In the rear, the slender Y-shaped through-type taillights echo the headlights and the wing can be raised or lowered automatically.
In addition, there are various sensors including radars and cameras placed throughout the car, implying advanced driving assistance capabilities.
Inside, the cockpit is expected to be equipped with the same 35.6-inch 6K resolution 3D integrated large screen as the Jiyue 01 that comes with a built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip as well as a half-moon steering wheel and ambient lightings.
Furthermore, at the Beijing Auto Show, Jiyue announced that it will cooperate with NVIDIA to create the next generation of smart cars. Starting in 2026, Jiyue plans to mass-produce models equipped with NVIDIA’s next-generation centralized in-vehicle computing platform – NVIDIA DRIVE™Thor, for autonomous driving capabilities.
It is also worth pointing out that so far, Jiyue has access to a total of 350,000 charging piles, across 330 Chinese cities. Jiyue has also reached cooperation with NIO and Zeekr to expand its charging infrastructure.
At this time, Jiyue 07’s official powertrain spec has not been revealed. We’ll watch closely for more details.
So, with Baidu ownership, its ahead of Tesla in autonomy?
Hi CarNewsChina, how about hosting a quiz with cars with blinded logos, to see if anyone can actually tell the differences between all of them? 😀
