On May 31, BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao off-road SUV brand released the official camouflage images of its Bao 3 pure electric SUV. The official launch is expected to be within this year, starting from 220,000 yuan (30,400 USD).

In April 2024, Fang Cheng Bao sold a total of 2,110 vehicles, bringing its 2024 cumulative sales to 13,173 vehicles. It is worth mentioning that Fang Cheng Bao did not have a sales target for 2024.

As an entry-level model of the Fang Cheng Bao brand and the brand’s third model, Bao 3 is positioned as a hardcore off-road medium-sized SUV. The Bao 3 might be available in three exterior colors: red, blue, and yellow, based on the exposed images.

The Bao 3’s design is inspired by the Star Wars armor. The front face adopts a square shape paired with split headlights, which looks similar to the previously released Fang Cheng Bao Super 3 concept car at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. The Super 3 concept car was built based on the Bao 5, Bao 8, and BYD’s DMO predominantly electric-driven off-road platform.

Furthermore, there is an interactive screen to display the charging status of the vehicle. The screen’s display content can be customized. The front face might also adopt a closed design.

Additionally, the rear has two different styles: a full-sized spare tire and an external small container. From the side, the roof slightly slopes downward and both the hidden door handles and roof luggage racks are not absent. Currently, it is rumored that the Bao 3 will be more than 4,600 mm long and the wheelbase may reach 2,750 mm.

The interior and powertrain specifications have not been officially revealed at this time. BYD only announced that the Bao 3 will have a maximum power of 310 kW and be equipped with dual motors and electric four-wheel drive. We’ll watch closely for more information.
