Thanks to a government regulator, we now have more details about the Chery Tiggo 7 Sport, which will come in both ICE and PHEV versions. This car has already made its way to dealers, where a few eyes have been opened thanks to its similarity and look at the front to various Land Rover models.

For once, there is considerable variation across the models in terms of dimensions, mostly centered around the length, which is probably altered via the different fender designs available. The only constants across all are the 1670 mm height and the wheelbase of 2672 mm. The ICE Variant length is either 4538 or 4545 mm, while the width is always 1898 mm. With the PHEV version, which is called the Chery Tiggo 7 Sport C-DM, there is even more variation with lengths of 4501, 4540, or 4545 mm and widths of 1865 or 1898 mm.

There are two listings for the ICE version: the lighter one weighing 1484 kg and the heavier one 1620 kg. It should be noted that the heavier version is an all-wheel drive version. They both have an angle of approach and departure of 20 and 24 degrees, respectively, and buyers can specify the cars with 17, 18, or 19-inch wheels. Not surprisingly, the PHEV version is heavier, weighing 1775 kg, and this car Is only available with 18 or 19-inch wheels. Although the angle of approach stays the same at 20, the departure angle is now 23 degrees.

Both ICE versions use the same Chery SQRF4J16C petrol engine, a 1.6 liter turbocharged unit with a maximum power of 145 kW and torque of up to 290 Nm. According to the Minister of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the fuel consumption is 6.98 l /100 km. The engine is matched with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox. Prices are expected to be around 100,000 yuan (14,000 USD).

Powering the PHEV version is Chery’s Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM system. At its heart is a fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI hybrid engine known by the internal code SQRH4J15. It can generate up to 115 kW of power, and in the Tiggo 7 Sport C-DM works in conjunction with an electric motor. Unfortunately, MIIT does not provide further information about electric motors. However, we know that the car will be equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery and that the declared fuel consumption is 1.27 l/100 km.

As mentioned previously, the Chery Tiggo 7 Sport, thanks to the black mesh grille, positioning of the Chery lettering, side inlets, front skid plate, and, to an extent, the light clusters, looks very similar at the front to Land Rover models such as the current Range Rover Evoque. It should be noted that Chery is Jaguar Land Rover’s joint venture partner in China.
