In an achievement only just being reported by Chinese media, the Haval plant in Pakistan completed its 10,000th locally produced car on October 15. Some news outlets are reporting this as the 10,000th locally produced hybrid, but this appears to be incorrect.

The 10,000th car off the production line was an HEV version of Great Wall’s Haval H6. Production in collaboration with Sazgar began on a knockdown kit basis in September 2022. Production currently consists of the Haval Jolion and the Haval H6 HEV, the latter being the first hybrid produced in Pakistan.

Between January and September this year, Great Wall’s sales in Pakistan totaled 6,656 units. Furthermore, the company launched this year the Ora Good Cat, Lightning Cat, and mild hybrid version of the Tank 500.

Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain was the chief guest at the ceremony held at the assembly plant. He commended Sazgar for its technological advancements. He said, “Great Wall Motors has played a very important and positive role in Pakistan’s automotive industry, greatly improving the quality of life of local people and accelerating the transformation of Pakistan from traditional fuel vehicles to the new energy vehicle market.”

Yang Weiqi, Vice President of Great Wall Motor International, said: “Great Wall Motors has always been committed to launching products to meet local needs around the world.”

The Haval plant is located in Lahore, Pakistan’s second-largest city. The Haval H6 HEV was the market leader in Pakistan during 2023-24.
