On November 4, Geely Galaxy officially debuts its upcoming Starship 7 SUV powered by Geely’s NordThor 2.0 plug-in hybrid system and built based on the GEA platform. Its pre-sale will open on November 8 and is expected to be launched within the year.
The exterior follows the Geely Galaxy’s design language called Ripple (涟漪 in Chinese), with a length, width, and height of 4740/1905/1685 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2755 mm. Two curb weight options are offered: 1724 kg and 1790 kg, depending on the trims. The turning radius is 5.3 m. At the same time, the car is available in six paints, inspired by the glaze light and shadow of Chinese porcelain: green, silver, white, gray, black, and blue, according to the brand. However, the car does not use the popular hidden door handles. The rear is equipped with through-type taillights and exhaust outlets. The official also claimed the car features 20 low-drag designs, contributing to its 0.288Cd drag coefficient.
The Geely Galaxy Starship 7 is powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine model BHE15-BFN with a maximum power of 82 kW (110 hp) and a thermal efficiency of 46.5%. Its lithium iron phosphate batteries are supplied by either SVOLT or Xinwanda with capacities of 28.94 kWh and 19.09 kWh. The corresponding pure electric ranges are 101 km and 150 km, respectively (test conditions are unknown). Under a full fuel tank and a full charge, the official comprehensive range can reach 1,430 km.
Furthermore, the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 adopts an 11-in-1 electric drive with P1+P3 electric motors. The motor efficiency is as high as 98.02% and the comprehensive efficiency of the electric drive is as high as 92.5%. At this time, the motor power has not been revealed. The Geely Galaxy Starship 7’s 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 7.5 seconds.
Inside, the cockpit uses a symmetrical T-shaped layout, decorated with fabric and chrome elements. The double-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel has inductive touch buttons on both sides. Behind the steering wheel is an instrument panel and in front of the center console is the 14.6-inch central control screen. The vehicle operating system comes from the Galaxy Flyme Auto smart cockpit system.
In addition, the interior is equipped with a 13.8-inch W-HUD, an AI voice assistant, horizontal air-conditioning vents, 16 Flyme Sound speakers, ambient lights, 50W wireless mobile phone charging, and seat ventilation/heating/massage. Sentry mode is also offered.
