On December 19, the extended-range electric version of the Luxeed R7 was launched. It is the first EREV model from the Luxeed collaborative brand between Huawei and Chery. The car comes in cheaper than the all-electric version, which went on sale early this year, and there are two In the range, one equipped with Lidar and the cheaper without. They are as follows:

Range extender Pro249,800 yuan (34,250 USD)
Range extender Max289,800 yuan (39,700 USD)

Externally, the look of the EREV is largely the same as that of the all-electric version. Dimensions remain unchanged at 4956, 1981,1634 mm (l/w/h), while the wheelbase is 2950 mm. There is, though, a new external color for the era version, Turquoise blue, with now a total of eight colors available.

Inside buyers have a choice from four interior colors, and overall, the look is the same as that of the EV version. The R7 has a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, which is set relatively far into the dashboard. This, it is claimed, helps to stop strong sunlight from causing a problem with the driver’s vision. In addition, there is a 15.6-inch infotainment screen.

Seats gain heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Furthermore, the passenger has a zero gravity seat, which has an 18-way adjustment and a 10-point massage system, along with a heated leg rest with a length of 340 mm.

The front and rear rows have double-layered sound and heat insulation glass. For the rear, this also includes a privacy function.

There is a Chery-supplied SQRH4J15 1.5T engine acting as the range extender in the EREV version of the Luxeed R7. This has a maximum power of 115 KW.

The R7 is equipped with Huawei’s new “Snow Owl Intelligent Silent Range Extension System.” This, it is claimed, can bring higher endurance and lower energy consumption. Using four special algorithms, it better distributes power and increases battery life. This aids energy consumption, and a special vibration suppression algorithm smoothens the range extender’s operation.

The all-electric range is 251 km while the comprehensive range is quoted at 1570 km. Whereas the EV version has an 800V architecture, the EREV switches to 400V. There is only a single motor version available, which uses a 200 kW electric motor mounted on the rear axle. This can provide up to 360 Nm of torque.

The R7 comes with a CATL-supplied 37 kWh battery pack. This, it is claimed, can achieve a 20%-80% SoC charge in 15 minutes. The EREV version of the R7 has a top speed of 200 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.4 seconds.

Non-Lidar equipped versions will use the vision-based version of the Huawei Qiankun 3.0 ADS system, whereas the Lidar version will use the full Qiankun system.
