On February 2nd, BYD’s Denza brand General Manager, Zhao Changjiang, confirmed in a video on social media that the Denza N9 model will launch in March. The new SUV has already begun to be spotted at dealerships in China and will go for pre-sales sometime in February.

BYD officials further elaborated the car would be valuable for test drives starting around mid-February and will fully arrive in all dealerships in the next week.

Other new information confirmed includes the hybrid models’ pure electric range, which will be over 200 km – more than the previously stated 165 km range. The initial version of the Denza N9 offered will be the plug-in hybrid, with the pure electric version to follow.

Positioned as a full-size SUV, the Denza N9 measures 5,258 mm long, 2,030 mm wide, and 1,830 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. Much like the Denza Z9, the N9 is built off of BYD’s e3 platform and is expected to support advanced features such as tank turning, crab walking, and rear-wheel steering.

The PHEV variant is powered by a 152 kW engine and three 200 kW/240 kW/240 kW electric motors, resulting in a combined power of 680 kW.

Inside, BYD has showcased the car featuring three large screens, a HUD heads-up display, a four-spoke multi-function steering wheel, and a retractable sound system. It also offers an electronic gear shifter and dual wireless charging panels. Additionally, the car is equipped with a ceiling-mounted display, a refrigerator, dual independent second-row seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

Furthermore, a drone version of the Denza N9 has been revealed and has gotten China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) approval in December last year.

The Denza N9 had previously been spotted in London, UK, without camouflage, undergoing testing. BYD has held talks, since last summer, about taking the Denza brand to Europe and as the launch of the Denza N9 nears and the Denza brand matures in China, the N9 may be one of the first Denza models to go aboard.
