On February 14, Chery’s Jetour officially opened its Jetour Freedom gasoline-powered SUV for pre-sales, powered by 1.5T and 2.0T engine options, with a price range of 129,900 – 159,900 yuan (17,900 – 22,000 USD). The Jetour Freedom is the gasoline-powered variant of the Jetour Shanhai T1.
The Jetour Freedom adopts the classic square box shape with pedal shaped headlights. Its dimensions are 4706/1967/1845 mm, and the wheelbase is 2810 mm. The minimum ground clearance is 200 mm and 190 mm for the 1.5T and 2.0T variants, respectively.
Consumers can choose from six exterior paints: blue, green, gold, silver, white, and black.
The Jetour Freedom offers two power options: 1.5T and 2.0T engines. The 1.5T engine has a maximum power of 135 kW (181 hp) and a peak torque of 290 Nm, mated to a 7DCT; the 2.0T engine has a maximum power of 187 kW (251 hp) and a peak torque of 390 Nm, mated to an 8AT. The fuel tank capacity is 70 L and the top speed is 180 km/h.
An AWD trim is also available, which is equipped with BorgWarner’s sixth-generation AWD system and has a “7+X” driving mode. The X mode can intelligently identify road conditions and enable automatic torque distribution for off-roading.
Inside, the 15.6-inch central control screen (12.8-inch for the entry-level trim) is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, paired with a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel and a flat-bottom steering wheel. A handle is available in front of the co-pilot for off-road driving. The iconic rectangular air-conditioning outlets are also retained.
Other configurations include 8/9 HiFi speakers, voice control, an AI assistant, in-car WiFi hotspot, 64-color ambient lights, 50W wireless charging, mobile phone remote control, Bluetooth key, and a 64-inch panoramic sunroof. Level 2 advanced driving assistance capabilities are also supported, including blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition.
There are 45 storage spaces throughout the interior. Furthermore, the official claimed that the car’s “Shuyun seats” have a 10-layer structure and the UV isolation rate is 99%.
