According to BYD’s official Weibo, the newly launched Qin L EV — a pure electric mid-size sedan — has received 10,089 orders within its first week. It has quickly become one of the most competitive electric models in the low- to mid-tier family sedan segment. It is also the first EV equipped with an 800V high-voltage system in the 100,000–150,000 yuan (13,900–19,400 USD) price range.

BYD Qin L EV is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo, with a brand new Loong (dragon) Face design and dimensions of 4720/1880/1495 mm, and a 2820 mm wheelbase. Compared to its hybrid counterpart, the Qin L DM-i, the Qin L EV looks sleeker and has a more futuristic design, emphasising its electric identity.

The BYD Qin L EV is priced from 119,800 yuan (16,500 USD) to 139,800 yuan (19,300 USD), and BYD’s “God’s Eye” C (DiPilot 100) intelligent driving system is available in all three trim levels. The base trim comes with a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 110 kW (148 hp) and 220 Nm of torque, paired with BYD’s 46.08 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a CLTC range of 470 km.

The mid and high trims are equipped with a more powerful rear motor producing 160 kW (215 hp) and 330 Nm of torque. These variants feature a larger 56.64 kWh battery, extending the CLTC range to 545 km. In addition, they come with a larger 15.6-inch central screen(the base trim only has a 12 inch one), a VTOL power outlet strip for external discharge, and support a maximum DC charging power of 103 kW — 19 kW higher than the base trim.

The BYD Qin L EV’s main competitors are the Arcfox Alpha S5 and the Deepal SL03—both electric midsize sedans in a similar price range, offering competitive performance and specs. However, the Alpha S5 targets the sportier end of the market. Its top trim has high-performance all-aluminum four-piston brake calipers and an active intelligent rear spoiler for enhanced aerodynamics and braking power.
