BYD Surpasses Toyota in orders at the Bangkok Motor Show

During the 14-day 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show, total orders reached 77,379 vehicles, an increase of 23,941 units compared to the previous year’s event, representing a year-on-year growth of 41.63%. Among them, BYD/Denza received a total of 10,353 orders (BYD 9,819 / Denza 534), ranking the first. Toyota ranks the second, and recived a total of 9,819 orders.

Among the top 15 brands with the highest number of orders, Chinese brands accounted for seven. GAC Aion ranked third with 7,018 orders, Changan’s Deepal ranked 4th with 6,589 orders, and GWM ranked 7th with 4,959 orders. Compared to the 2024 Bangkok Motor Show, this year three Chinese brands entered the top 5 charts.

At the Bangkok Motor Show, BYD’s best-selling model was the Dolphin, a compact all-electric hatchback priced between 569,900 and 709,900 Thai baht (16,710 USD to 20,820 USD). During the event, a special promotional price was offered, ranging from 499,900 to 599,900 Thai baht (roughly 14,655 USD to 17,585 USD). The model received 4,014 orders during the show.

The BYD Dolphin was first launched in Thailand in 2023. The entry-level variant is equipped with a rear electric motor producing 70 kW (95 hp) and 180 Nm of torque, powered by a 50.25 kWh Blade Battery that offers a maximum range of 410 km under the NEDC protocol. The higher-spec variant features a more powerful 150 kW (204 PS) motor and 310 Nm of torque, along with a larger 60.48 kWh battery that delivers a maximum range of 490 km (NEDC).

Another top-selling model came from a Chinese EV manufacturer: the Aion UT, a compact electric urban hatchback similar in form to the BYD Dolphin. It is priced between 490,000 – 510,000 baht (14,580 – 15,180 USD). The vehicle has a dimension of 4270/1850/1575 mm with a wheelbase of 2750mm. The base trim is equipped with a single electric motor producing 100 kW (134 hp), paired with a 50 kWh battery pack. The higher trim features a more powerful 152 kW (204 hp) motor and comes with a 60 kWh battery. During the event, the Aion UT received 4,568 orders.
