At the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, BYD introduced the Seal 06 DM-i wagon, a new plug-in hybrid estate that expands the company’s Ocean Series lineup. Building on the success of the Seal 06 DM-i sedan—now a top-seller in China with over 220,000 units sold since its May 2024 debut—the wagon variant adds a more practical option to the growing series.
The Seal 06 DM-i wagon retains the family’s “Ocean” aesthetics styling while enhancing versatility with a longer rear section for increased cargo space. It measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm. Under the hood, it features a 1.5-litre BYD472QC engine producing 74 kW, combined with a 120 kW or 160 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor. A lithium-iron-phosphate battery supplies power, and the vehicle supports external charging.
Two configurations are available. The standard version provides a 53 km CLTC electric range, while the more powerful option extends that to 83 km. Both benefit from BYD’s fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system. The wagon is set to launch in the second quarter of 2025 with a price range of 120,000 to 150,000 yuan (approximately 16,400 to 20,500 USD).
Also arriving in Q2 is the Seal 06 EV variant. This fully electric sedan variant measures 4,720 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, sharing a 2,820 mm wheelbase with its hybrid counterpart. It will be offered with two single-motor options—110 kW and 160 kW—produced in different manufacturing plants. Like the wagon, the Seal 06 EV is priced between 120,000 and 150,000 yuan (approximately 16,400 to 20,500 USD).
In the third quarter, BYD will expand the lineup by launching the Sealion 06 DM-i and Sealion 06 EV variants. The Sealion 06 DM-i combines the same 1.5L engine with a 160 kW motor, while the all-electric version will offer 170 kW and 180 kW single-motor options, as well as a dual-motor AWD setup (110 kW + 180 kW). The Sealion 06 measures 4,810 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, and 1,675 mm high, with a 2,820 mm wheelbase. Prices for both variants will range from 160,000 to 200,000 yuan (approximately 21,900 to 27,350 USD) .
