Deepal has officially launched presales for its first full-size flagship SUV, the S09, at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. Positioned as a “family large six-seater smart flagship SUV,” the S09 enters the competitive premium new energy vehicle (NEV) market, targeting established players like the Li Auto L9 and AITO M9.

Five configurations of the S09 are available for presale: RWD Max, RWD Ultra, RWD Ultra+, AWD Ultra, and AWD Ultra+ High-Definition. The presale price ranges from 239,900 to 309,900 yuan (32900 to 42500 USD).

Exterior and Dimensions

The S09 features Deepal’s signature design language with futuristic elements. The front incorporates a distinctive split LED light setup, with slim daytime running lights above matrix headlights. The vehicle measures 5050/1960/1750mm in l/w/h, with a wheelbase of 3050mm, providing a foundation for a spacious interior. Design details include hidden door handles, large alloy wheels, and a full-width taillight design at the rear.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the S09 aims to be a “family smart third space,” equipped with Huawei’s HarmonySpace 5 cockpit system. Key interior features include:

• A 21.4-inch 3K ultra-clear rear entertainment screen with access to popular streaming platforms.
• An intelligent assistant designed for children, offering companionship, interactive dialogue, and creative functions.
• A unique movable centre console on a 700mm sliding rail, accessible from all three rows.
• Dual zero-gravity second-row seats that can slide horizontally for flexible interaction.
• A third row designed for comfort, featuring a 360mm seat cushion height suitable even for passengers up to 1.8 meters tall, moving away from the “small bench” feel often found in third rows.
• A trunk capacity of 313L to accommodate family travel needs.

Powertrain and Charging

The S09 utilises Deepal’s new generation Super Range Extension 2.0 technology. This system comprises a 1.5T range extender and an LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery pack. Both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions are offered.

• The WLTC pure electric range is 180km for the RWD version and 170km for the AWD version.
• The vehicle supports 800V high-voltage fast charging, enabling a 300km range addition in just 10 minutes.

Driver Assistance

The S09 is the first Deepal model to feature Huawei’s ADS 3.3 advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS). This system supports full-scenario assisted driving capabilities and alleviates common issues like parking difficulties associated with large vehicles.
