Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Nio has officially launched updated versions of its ES6 and EC6 SUVs, introducing design, technology, and performance changes. The new models are available for order, and customer deliveries will begin on May 20.

  • New ES6 starts at 338,000 yuan (46,900 USD) or 268,000 yuan (37,200 USD) with battery subscription
  • New EC6 starts at 358,000 yuan (49,700 USD) or 288,000 yuan (39,950 USD) with battery subscription

The battery subscription model offers an alternative to outright battery ownership.

Both the ES6 and EC6 receive updated styling. The front end now features a more defined hood and revised side vents to manage airflow and reduce drag. The x-bar grille remains, and it is paired with ADB matrix headlights to improve visibility at night.

New 21-inch alloy wheels—multi-spoke for the ES6 and feather-inspired pattern for the EC6—have been introduced. High-gloss black side skirts and illuminated door lighting are included. A new “moonlight silver” paint option is now available for both models.

The EC6 continues to include an active rear spoiler designed to manage airflow. Both SUVs retain full-width LED taillights, contributing to a streamlined exterior.

Inside, cabin materials and onboard systems have been revised. A 15.6-inch AMOLED touchscreen is integrated with a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel. Nomi Mate 3.0 offers voice-activated control and supports system interactions.

The steering wheel has been updated with configurable shortcut buttons. The cabin includes 50W wireless charging, support for NFC digital keys, and a 9-speaker sound system for media playback.

The seats are finished in Nappa leather and include heating, ventilation, and massage functions for both the front and rear rows. A 6.6-inch touchscreen in the rear allows control over seating and climate preferences.

Both models are equipped with dual-motor all-wheel drive producing 360 kW (483 hp) and 700 Nm of torque. Three battery configurations are offered:

  • The 75 kWh pack provides up to 500 km (ES6) or 505 km (EC6) range.
  • The 100 kWh option extends this to 625 km (ES6) or 630 km (EC6).
  • The 150 kWh battery enables an impressive 930 km (ES6) or 935 km (EC6) on a single charge for long-distance travellers.

The ES6 and EC6 include a suite of driver-assistance technologies, including LiDAR and 29 sensors to enhance object recognition. The NX9031 autonomous driving chip processes data to support assisted driving functions.

Additional safety features include a high-speed tyre blowout control system to maintain vehicle control during sudden punctures. Other updates include double-layer UV-blocking glass and a revised suspension setup to improve ride quality.
