Maextro, the premium automotive brand under Harmony Intelligent Driving, will officially launch its flagship luxury sedan—the Maextro S800—on May 30, 2025. Positioned as China’s most advanced large luxury sedan, the S800 combines cutting-edge technology with opulent design to directly challenge high-end international offerings like the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
Co-developed by Huawei and former Nio contract manufacturer JAC, the S800 is Maextro’s first production model and will be available with all-electric and extended-range (EREV) powertrains. It measures at 5480/2000/1536 mm with a 3370 mm wheelbase. The S800 promises a spacious interior and a refined driving experience. Power output ranges from 480 to 1300 hp across dual-motor, tri-motor, and quad-motor configurations. The EREV version supports 800V architecture and 6C fast charging, enabling its 65 kWh battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 10.5 minutes.
The S800’s cabin design reflects Maextro’s commitment to reimagining automotive luxury. Three interior colour themes will be offered: Purple and white, Brown and white, and a Full Brown Heritage trim. A triple-screen panoramic dashboard, HUD, and digital side mirrors integrated into the doors add futuristic flair. Interior materials include nappa leather, handcrafted wood, and crystal accents.
Rear-seat comfort is a highlight, with an executive four-seat layout, massage and ventilation, and a Starlight panoramic roof. A hidden “Connoisseur Suite” includes dual wireless charging pads, fold-out work tables, a temperature-controlled wine chiller, and a compressor fridge.
The launch also marks the introduction of six intelligent systems, including three world-firsts: the Maextro Turing Chassis Pro, an AI-powered adaptive suspension platform; the Guardian Angel Safety System, a full-surround active safety suite; and Starlink 5G+ Satellite Communication, developed with Huawei to maintain seamless connectivity. Additional features include the Harmony ALPS Cockpit 2.0, Maextro DriveSense 2.0 for autonomous driving, and the QuantumSafe Battery 2.0, offering over 800 km of range.
Built on the flexible “Tuling Longxing” chassis, the S800 supports a variety of NEV configurations and body types, including sedans, SUVs, and MPVs up to 3.8 tons. The vehicle uses 32 ADAS sensors—including four 192-line LiDAR units—to enable advanced perception in poor weather and lighting conditions. The system can automatically prepare the car for a collision and trigger emergency protocols post-impact.
Four-wheel steering gives the 5.48-meter-long sedan an impressive minimum turning radius of just 3.8 meters in specialised modes. A crab-walk function—first shown in a viral video manoeuvring between Maybachs—allows lateral movement of up to 16 degrees.
Huawei’s ADS perception system, DATS (Dynamic Adaptive Torque System), and Xmotion body control are prominent features that contribute to smoother, safer, and more responsive handling. Interactive high beams and a dual-layer air purification system further enhance safety and cabin health.
Sales will begin in China immediately after launch, with prices ranging from 1 million to 1.5 million yuan (approx. 136,000–205,000 USD). The Maextro S800 will be sold through Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligence Alliance) retail network, with public test drives expected to commence in June.
