On May 23, Chery’s X3 and X3 Plus electric SUVs were revealed by the Chinese MIIT, which can be regarded as the rebaged iCar 03T. For reference, the iCar 03T was launched in August 2024 with a price range of 139,800 – 149,800 yuan (19,400 – 20,800 USD), available in RWD and AWD with 501 km and 520 km CLTC ranges.
Both the Chery X3 and X3 Plus adopt the popular square boxy shape. The Chery X3 measures 4327/1910/1715 mm with a 2715 mm wheelbase, and has two curb weight options of 1,903 kg and 1,827 kg. As an electric vehicle, the front face is closed, combined with T-shaped headlights on both sides. Thick black bumpers are present in both the front and rear. Additionally, the rear features an external storage box that is commonly seen on off-road SUVs, printed with the Chery English logo.
Hidden door handles, side-way tailgate, roof luggage racks are also present. The optional configurations include various rim shapes, sunroof, camera, front and rear radars, and bumper designs.
Both models are powered by a 185 kW (248 hp) electric motor model 112AD3 with a top speed of 150 km/h. Furthermore, Chinese social media revealed that the Chery X3 Plus comes with a 68.355 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack manufactured by Gotion, providing a range of 520 km (assuming under CLTC conditions).
In April, the iCar 03 series sold 1,158 units, bringing its 2025 cumulative sales to 5,734 units, which accounted for 17% of the iCar brand sales and just 0.6% of Chery Group’s overall sales. It is unclear whether this rebadge effort is Chery’s attempt to further diversify its product offering. We’ll watch closely for more info.
