The upcoming Mazda EZ-60, an all-electric mid-size SUV, has appeared in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) database, revealing key specifications ahead of its anticipated late-August launch. Developed in collaboration with Changan and built on the EPA platform, the EZ-60 will be offered in pure electric (EV) and range-extender (EREV) variants.

The production model stays true to the bold styling of the Arata Concept, featuring a futuristic front end with a hidden grille, split-type LED headlights, and a striking full-width daytime running light strip that outlines the grille’s silhouette. The aggressive front bumper enhances its sporty appeal, while the rear design incorporates a sleek full-width LED taillight cluster with embossed “MAZDA” lettering. An “EV” badge distinguishes the EV version, while the range-extender model maintains a similar aesthetic with minor differences.

With dimensions measuring 4,850 mm long, 1,935 mm wide, and 1,620 mm tall, along with a 2,902 mm wheelbase, the EZ-60 is a spacious five-seater in the mid-size SUV category. Buyers can opt for either 19-inch or 21-inch alloy wheels and customization options such as different exterior mirrors, rear wipers, and single-tone paint schemes.

Inside, the EZ-60 adopts a minimalist yet futuristic cabin dominated by a massive 26.45-inch 5K floating touchscreen, serving as the central hub for infotainment and vehicle controls. The dashboard features a dual-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a column-mounted gear selector, and button-style door releases for a clean, modern look.

Comfort is prioritised with zero-gravity front seats wrapped in premium upholstery, which includes ventilation, heating, massage functions, and integrated headrest speakers. The floating centre console includes wireless charging and clever under-console storage, maximising cabin space.

The pure electric version is powered by a single 190 kW (255 hp) motor paired with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery from CALB. While exact range figures remain undisclosed, the setup promises competitive performance.

For those seeking extended range without charging anxiety, the EREV variant combines a 1.5L gasoline range extender (72 kW) with a 190 kW electric motor, supported by a 31.73 kWh LFP battery. This setup delivers 160 km (99 miles) of pure electric driving before the combustion engine activates as a generator.

The EZ-60 enters a fiercely contested segment, taking on rivals like the Changan Deepal S07, and Avatr 07. Pricing details are still under wraps, but its positioning suggests it will compete in the 150,000–300,000 yuan (20,820–41,640 USD) range.

Mazda has recorded 20,000 pre-orders for the SUV in China. Interested buyers can secure their EZ-60 by placing a refundable 10 yuan (1.4 USD) deposit through Changan Mazda’s official website or dealerships. The deposit’s value increases daily until delivery, with the final amount deducted from the purchase price—a clever incentive to encourage early reservations.
