Huawei and JAC Motors officially launched their luxury flagship sedan, the Maextro S800, in China. It is priced between 708,000 and 1,018,000 yuan (approximately 98,300–141,000 USD). Positioned as a full-size luxury sedan, it measures at 5,480 mm long, 2,000 mm wide, and 1,536 mm tall with a 3,370 mm wheelbase, surpassing the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in size. Buyers can choose between 4-seat and 5-seat configurations.
The Maextro S800 adopts the new “Zongheng Xinghan” design language, which is characterised by four horizontal and two vertical elements. This creates a distinctive and dynamic front fascia accentuated by crystal headlights. At the rear, the sedan features a nebula-themed full-width taillight assembly called the “galaxy scroll,” which delivers an illuminated “milky way” effect at night. The “MAEXTRO” badge draws from the Italian word maestro, meaning conductor or expert, emphasising the car’s commanding presence.
The S800 is offered in both pure electric and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants. The pure electric model has a dual-motor setup with 390 kW power and a 95 kWh battery. It delivers up to 702 km CLTC range and ultra-fast charging from 10% to 80% in about 12 minutes.
The EREV variants combine electric motors with a 1.5L turbo engine (115 kW) and a 65 kWh battery supporting 6C fast charging and 800V architecture, charging 10% to 80% in 10.5 minutes. The dual-motor EREV matches 390 kW output, offers 400 km pure electric range, 1,333 km total range, and fuel consumption of 0.09 L/100 km. The tri-motor EREV delivers 635 kW, 365 km pure electric range, 1,200 km total range, and 0.25 L/100 km fuel use. All variants use Huawei’s Whale Battery 2.0 technology.
In terms of performance, the S800 offers 0–100 km/h acceleration in 4.3 seconds (EV dual-motor), 4.7 seconds (EREV tri-motor), and 4.9 seconds (EREV dual-motor). The braking distance from 100 km/h is 34.5 meters. With rear-wheel steering of ±12°, it boasts a tight turning radius of just 5.05 meters and a max crab-walk angle of 16°. The S800 rides on three-wheel designs, including 21-inch “big disc” wheels and two 20-inch multi-spoke options. Brembo four-piston callipers manage braking with dual-chip wheel speed sensors and an electro-hydraulic system.
The vehicle adopts Huawei’s latest ADS 4 intelligent driving system, which features “AI trains AI” capabilities. It includes four LiDAR sensors and a mix of 32 other sensors for comprehensive 360-degree perception and support for complex driving scenarios such as narrow lane navigation, automatic obstacle evasion, and precision parking. It also has Harmony ALPS 2.0 intelligent cockpit, and Huawei Galaxy Communication technology.
Safety is a standout focus. The S800 uses Huawei’s new Xuanwu safety architecture with a 10-horizontal and 9-vertical body structure, 2000 MPa integrated door rings, and a 53,300 N·m/deg torsional stiffness. Over 92% of the body comprises ultra-high-strength steel and aluminium, with 24% hot-formed steel exceeding 1500 MPa. It was designed to meet C-NCAP five-star and C-IASI 3G+ safety standards.
Battery protection is comprehensive, including five-layer underbody shielding and thermal runaway containment tech. Huawei and CATL claim the battery design exceeds China’s latest safety regulations.
The vehicle debuts the Tulindragon platform, built on a complete aluminium alloy chassis with a front double wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension. It introduces a novel “spatiotemporal inference suspension” system that pre-adjusts for bumps and curves. Standard adaptive air suspension (closed dual-chamber design), CDC adaptive dampers, four large hydraulic bushings, and rear-wheel steering capable of ±12° adjustment are also included.
The cabin showcases a large panoramic front view with premium materials such as first-layer calf leather, imported high-grade wood trim with seamless grain alignment, and crystal elements on logos, lighting fixtures, and control knobs. The Harmony ALPS 2.0 cockpit features the Huawei XHUD, an integrated three-screen panoramic display, and bright electronic inside and outside rearview mirrors. Five interior colour themes are available: dawn brown, glow white-purple, misty white, dusk white-brown, and night ink brown.
Interior craftsmanship emphasises bespoke luxury. The cabin includes hand-polished crystal elements, metal components forged with 1mm casting precision at 1300°C, and full-grain semi-aniline leather with fine stitching. Wood trim undergoes rigorous grain-matching, a rejection rate of over 99%, and a 480-hour gloss process.
Rear passengers benefit from zero-gravity seats with 20-way electric adjustment, up to 148.5° recline, and multi-point massage, ventilation, and heating functions. A unique “giant soft screen partition” between front and rear seats enhances privacy, combined with a central rotary wing panel. The “Executive Island” centre console includes dual foldable aviation trays, a dual-zone temperature-controlled refrigerator with UV sterilisation, a fingerprint-secured safe, dual cup holders with heating/cooling, and extensive storage space. Climate control is zoned for four separate temperature areas, each independently adjustable with automatic adaptation to outside conditions.
Lighting is handled by an independent rear passenger system that supports intelligent tracking light and gesture dimming. The panoramic starry sky roof offers three dynamic modes, including meteor shower effects. Additionally, the car features intelligent privacy glass with gesture control for opening and closing and a novel gesture-based door-closing function.
The trunk space is 445L and lined with high-pile velvet for added refinement.
The audio experience is equally high-end, with the S800 debuting the Huawei sound audio system—the most luxurious yet under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility lineup. It features 43 speakers, 7.5.10 independent channels, and a peak power output of 2,920W. Key highlights include four headrest speaker units per seat, 10 sky channels, adaptive sound staging algorithms, and a 45-degree retractable tweeter with a sub-40Hz bass response.
The Maextro S800 also features Huawei’s “Star-flash” digital car key system, which debuts with the upcoming Huawei Watch 5. The key can detect users from 20 meters, unlock at 3 meters, and maintain precision even during vehicle-side activities like luggage handling. Huawei claims it offers over five times the positioning accuracy and six times the unlocking reliability of conventional keys.
The first batch of 599 units under the “Pioneer Program” will begin deliveries on June 26, with mass deliveries starting in mid-August.
