Mazda has begun delivering its EZ-60 electric SUV to dealerships across China for static display. The vehicle was developed through Mazda’s partnership with Changan Auto. Potential buyers can now inspect the EZ-60 at showrooms in major Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu.
The production model retains most design elements from last year’s Arata concept, including functional air vents integrated into the D-pillars for improved aerodynamics. A new violet exterior colour option uses specialised pigments that change appearance under different lighting conditions. The interior features a 26.45-inch curved touchscreen and a 100-inch augmented reality head-up display, with available Nappa leather seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions.
Mazda is offering two powertrain options for the Chinese market. The fully electric version uses a 190kW motor and CATL lithium iron phosphate battery, providing 600 km of range under China’s CLTC testing cycle with 800V fast charging capability. An extended-range variant combines a smaller battery with a 1.5L gasoline engine, achieving over 1,300 km of total range.
The EZ-60 incorporates several China-specific features, including voice recognition for multiple dialects and integration with local applications like WeChat. Safety systems have been adapted for Chinese road conditions, with improved detection algorithms for pedestrians and cyclists. The body structure uses a high percentage of ultra-high-strength steel, including 2000 MPa components in key areas.
Mazda has implemented an innovative deposit program to attract early buyers. Customers can pay 10 yuan online to establish car purchase funds, which grow by 10 yuan daily. Additional bonuses are available for completing designated tasks. These accumulated funds must be applied to a vehicle purchase within seven days or will be refunded. Pre-sale orders lock within three days when the car officially launches, with all accumulated funds deducted from the final payment. Bonuses are forfeited if the order is cancelled, and each phone number can only participate once in the program.
Since opening reservations in April under this program, Mazda has recorded over 20,000 pre-orders in China, with particular interest in the extended-range model. The EZ-60 is currently available for viewing at Changan Mazda dealerships, with test drives expected to begin in July before the launch. First customer deliveries are scheduled for August. While initially focused on China, Mazda plans to introduce modified versions of the EZ-60 to other markets starting in 2026, named Mazda CX-6e.
