Chery Fulwin A9L prepares for global launch with 2,000 km range; China presales start June 25
Chery has confirmed that its flagship plug-in hybrid sedan, the Fulwin A9L, will begin presales on June 25, with an official launch scheduled for early July in China. The model, renamed from the previously previewed Fulwin A9, targets the competitive midsize-to-large sedan segment, competing directly with models like the BYD Han DM-i and the Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 PHEV.

The Fulwin A9L features a sleek fastback design with a drag coefficient of 0.23 Cd. Its front fascia includes a sealed grille and full-width LED light bar, complemented by continuous rear tail lights and a blacked-out lower bumper with silver accents. Additional design highlights are semi-concealed door handles with mechanical backup, matte-finished vertical air curtains, and a wide active rear spoiler. The sedan measures 5018 mm long, 1965 mm wide, and 1500 mm tall, riding on a 3000 mm wheelbase with 20-inch multi-spoke wheels for a commanding presence.

Powertrain-wise, the A9L uses Chery’s Kunpeng Super Hybrid Electric 6.0 system with a stepless DHT Pro transmission. The 1.5T engine delivers 160 kW peak power and 310 Nm torque, paired with a 33.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate Kunpeng Blade Battery. This setup provides a pure electric range of up to 260 km and a combined range of approximately 2,000 km on full charge and fuel.

The Fulwin A9L offers premium materials such as suede-style trims on door panels and dashboard, chrome accents, and knurled switchgear. The cabin is available in dual-tone black-red or brown-white options. Rear passengers benefit from generous knee and headroom, enhanced by the long wheelbase and dual sunroof design. Seats feature dual-layer padding and extended cushions for added thigh support, though the rear centre armrest is standard.

The infotainment system is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8255 chipset, a refined version of the 8295. Advanced driver assistance is supported by 27 intelligent sensors—including Lidar, millimetre-wave radars, surround-view cameras, panoramic cameras, and ultrasonic radars—linked to an Orin Y 200T autonomous driving computing platform. This enables memory parking, highway and city NOA (Navigate on Autopilot), significant vehicle avoidance, and blind spot lane change warnings. Some trims may exclude LiDAR, offering conventional L2 assistance instead.

The A9L debuted at the Hong Kong International Automotive and Supply Chain Expo on June 12, attracting mainly younger, tech-savvy male visitors. Pricing is expected between 150,000 and 200,000 yuan (approx. 20,700 to 27,600 USD).

At the same expo, Chery Chairman Yin Tongyue announced that the company is set to become the first Chinese automaker to surpass 5 million cumulative vehicle exports, highlighting Chery’s strong global footprint and export growth.

Chery Fulwin A9L is preparing for its global launch in Q1 2026, reinforcing its commitment to expanding its international presence and marking a key step in its global expansion strategy. Executives also confirmed that proceeds from Chery’s planned IPO will primarily support new energy vehicle research and development and overseas market expansion, emphasising Chery’s long-term commitment to technology-driven growth.
