Nissan’s all-electric N7 sedan has achieved a significant sales milestone, surpassing 20,000 firm orders within 50 days of its market debut in China. Launched on April 27, the N7 starts at 119,900 yuan (approx. 14,000 USD) and is available in five distinct variants. It is positioning it as an affordable yet feature-rich choice in the competitive mid-size EV segment.

The N7 is the first electric sedan developed on Dongfeng Nissan’s new energy platform and was introduced under the joint venture’s renewed strategy to accelerate its electrification roadmap. While the model was initially designed for the Chinese market, reports suggest that Nissan is exploring bringing the N7 to Japan, though official confirmation remains pending.

In terms of specifications, the N7 lineup includes 160 kW and 200 kW single-motor configurations paired with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries offering CLTC ranges of 510 km, 525 km, 540 km, 625 km, and 635 km, depending on the variant. Charging performance is competitive, with fast-charging capability allowing a 30% to 80% charge in just 14 minutes under optimal conditions. All versions support 6.6 kW external discharge functionality, catering to outdoor and emergency power needs.

Tech features vary by trim level. All versions come equipped with Nissan’s in-house “NISSAN OS”, a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen, and motion sickness mitigation software. Entry-level variants are powered by the Snapdragon 8155 chip, while the Max trims upgrade to the more powerful Snapdragon 8295P. The Max versions also incorporate a co-developed end-to-end driver assistance system from Nissan and Momenta, elevating the car’s autonomous capabilities to an advanced Level 2+ suite.

The N7’s cabin design emphasises comfort and material quality, with features such as suede-like microfiber surfaces, Alcantara-style upholstery, and “Cloud Comfort” zero-pressure seats available on higher trims. Dual-tone colour schemes, including a distinctive forest green/snow white combination.

Visually, the N7 adopts a modern minimalist exterior design with a closed grille, split-structure headlights, and a full-width light bar. The lighting system incorporates over 700 LEDs and 800+ OLED units, with customizable “Magic Canvas” animations for a more personalised appearance. Two 19-inch wheel styles are available: a multi-spoke aerodynamic option and a five-spoke petal design for a sportier look.

Dimensionally, the N7 measures 4,930 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,487 mm in height, with a 2,915 mm wheelbase, making it suitable for private and fleet use in China.

Customer response has been robust for the top-tier Max variants, which feature the most extended driving ranges and advanced hardware. Over 60% of orders have been for Max trims, leading to extended delivery times due to higher-than-expected demand.

With its compelling blend of performance, technology, and pricing, the Dongfeng Nissan N7 is proving to be a hit in China’s electric vehicle market. As Nissan evaluates expanding the model to other regions, including Japan, the N7 may soon become a key player in the brand’s global EV strategy.
