Mazda is expanding its new energy lineup in China with the upcoming launch of the EZ-60, will be known as Mazda CX-6e internationally, a mid-size SUV developed jointly with Changan Auto. The vehicle will officially go on sale in late September 2025 and will be available in fully electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) variants. The EZ-60 is Mazda’s second NEV offering in China, built on Changan’s EPA platform.

Since opening symbolic deposit reservations, the EZ-60 has attracted strong market interest, with over 26,000 pre-orders recorded by early June. Mazda reports that 76% of pre-order customers are aged between 25 and 40, and 71% are from first- and second-tier cities, highlighting the vehicle’s appeal among younger urban consumers.

The EZ-60 adopts Mazda’s design language while incorporating elements suited to the electric era. It features a sleek profile with hidden door handles, electronic side mirrors, and an illuminated grille outline flanked by split headlamps. At the rear, a sloping roofline, sculpted spoiler, and dynamic taillights complete the sporty look.

The SUV measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,935 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,902 mm. Inside, it offers a tech-forward cabin with a 26.45-inch 5K floating display and a 100-inch naked-eye 3D head-up display with eye-tracking capabilities. The system is designed to assist with navigation in complex traffic conditions. A 23-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system handles audio, while a 4nm cockpit chip manages over 1,700 in-car functions.

A 190 kW electric motor powers both BEV and EREV versions. The EREV model adds a 1.5-litre range extender engine producing 70 kW. Battery specifications have not yet been announced. Additional features include Level 2 driving assistance, automatic parking, and a comfort-focused “Queen’s Seat” for the front passenger.

Pre-orders can be placed for 10 yuan (approx. 1.50 USD), increasing daily but fully deductible from the final price. Reservations are available through Changan Mazda’s online and offline channels.

Mazda has confirmed plans to release two more jointly developed NEVs with Changan, further deepening its presence in China’s competitive electric vehicle market.
