On June 19, Buick officially launched its refreshed Electra E5 electric SUV in China, available in three trims with a price range of 169,900 – 189,900 yuan (23,600 – 26,400 USD) and CLTC cruising ranges of 515 km, 545 km, and 620 km. As a facelift model, the new Buick E5 has 47 upgrades compared to the previous version.

Adopting the brand’s PURE Design language, the new Electra E5 has a simplified closed front face paired with a trapezoidal grille at the bottom. The design of the side and rear is largely consistent with the previous version.

Positioned as a medium-to-large SUV, the new Electra E5 measures 4892/1905/1681(1683) mm and has a 2954 mm wheelbase.

The most notable upgrade is the car’s Ultium 2.0 multi-drive platform which features a front permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 180 kW (241 hp) and a peak torque of 330 Nm. The top speed is 180 km/h and the fastest 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 7.4 seconds. Four driving modes are supported, namely, comfort, sport, anti-slip, and personalized.

  • 515 km: 65 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, 13.7 kWh power consumption per 100 km
  • 545 km: 68.4 kWh ternary lithium battery, 13.5 kWh power consumption per 100 km
  • 620 km: 76.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate Ultium CTP (Cell-to-Pack) battery co-developed by SAIC-GM and CATL, 13.4 kWh power consumption per 100 km

Specifically, the 620 km trim takes only 10 minutes to recharge 210 km of range and comes with an “AI” battery management system, according to the official.

The interior also remains consistent with the previous version but with a new eConnect smart cockpit system. The 30-inch integrated curved 6K screen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip is standard for the whole series. Other configurations include a new intelligent voice assistant, OTA updates, the latest iOS 26 CarPlay, remote vehicle control/vehicle condition detection via mobile phone, and eCruise level 2 advanced driving assistance capabilities.

The sound comes from 8 or 14 speakers, depending on the trims. Only the top trim has the Bose Centerpoint sound system.

The trunk has a standard volume of 502 L and can be expanded to 1,658 L after folding down the second row.

In addition, the rear seat backrest angle has been adjusted to tilt 27°.
