This is the Shangjie H5 medium-sized SUV, positioned in the 150,000 – 250,000 yuan (20,700 – 34,500 USD) price range. Shangjie is the fifth automotive brand under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), developed jointly by SAIC and Huawei with an initial investment of 6 billion yuan (837 million USD). The H5 is the brand’s first model and its official launch is expected to be fall of this year.

So far, HIMA’s four other automotive brands are Aito (Seres), Luxeed (Chery), Stelato (BAIC), and Maextro (JAC). Shangjie’s market positioning is the most affordable one out of the five, targeting the mainstream market that is below the 200,000 yuan (27,900 USD) segment.

According to SAIC, the market segment with the largest user base and the most intense competition is below 200,000 yuan in the Chinese market. In 2024, 70% of domestic passenger car sales were concentrated below 200,000 yuan.

Once launched, the Shangjie H5 will compete directly with models including the BYD Song Plus series, Leapmotor C11, Deepal S07, and Xpeng G6.

Judging from the official images, the Shangjie H5 features a closed front face with slender headlights and a trapezoidal lower grille, a roof lidar, chrome-plated window frames, and through-type taillights. Interestingly, the car did not use the popular hidden door handles, instead, it retains the conventional door handles. Two rim designs are available: five-spoke and multi-spoke.

The advanced driving assistance system will come from Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 4.0, which is offered in four variants, among which the Ultra flagship variant can realize level 3 capabilities on the highway environment.

Additionally, the interior has not been revealed, but it will be equipped with Huawei’s Harmony smart cockpit system as standard, supporting multi-screen interaction and AI voice assistant.

Prior to the official images unveil, Shangjie shared a teaser image earlier this week. At this time, the powertrain specs have also not been revealed. We’ll watch closely for more info.
