Aito M8 pure electric version revealed ahead of August launch
Huawei‘s luxury electric vehicle brand Aito has officially unveiled images of the pure electric version of its M8 SUV, scheduled for launch in August. The new model follows the release of the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version earlier this year.
The pure electric M8 maintains the interstellar matrix design language of its EREV counterpart with subtle differences, most notably a new dotted-pattern front grille. It boasts a CLTC range of 705 kilometres and will be among the first vehicles to feature Huawei’s advanced ADS 4 autonomous driving system.
The vehicle retains the same dimensions as the EREV version at 5190/1999/1795mm (length/width/height) with a 3105mm wheelbase. Available in both 5-seat and 6-seat configurations, the pure electric variant adds a spacious front trunk for additional storage.

Powered by Huawei’s high-voltage seven-in-one electric drive system, the M8 comes in rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options. All models feature CATL 100 kWh batteries and Huawei’s “Whale” 800V high-voltage battery platform.

The Aito M8 full-size range-extended crossover was launched in China with a starting price of 359,800 yuan (48,960 USD). This SUV with over 1,500 km of mixed range had gotten over 140,000 orders before its sales kicked off. Yesterday, Huawei’s Executive Director Richard Yu reported that the EREV version exceeded 20,000 deliveries in June, making it the sales champion in its price segment.

According to Chinese media YCWB, the latest statistics for the first half of this year show that the top three new energy vehicle manufacturers by sales were Leapmotor, Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), and Li Auto, with deliveries of 221,664 units, 204,658 units, and 203,938 units, respectively. HIMA ranked second by forming a product matrix with its four major brands: Aito, Luxeed, Stelato, and Maextro. However, HIMA relies heavily on the Aito series; in the first half of this year, the Aito brand contributed 80% (154,000 units) of the sales.
