A new full-size SUV under BYD’s Dynasty series has been spotted in camouflaged form, indicating an upcoming market launch before the end of 2025. The new model is believed to be the production version of the Dynasty-D concept unveiled at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show and is expected to be priced at around 400,000 yuan (approximately USD 55,000).

Exterior design aligned with Dynasty-D concept

Images obtained from D-Auto show that the vehicle’s silhouette and major styling cues closely follow the Dynasty-D concept, with adjustments for mass production. At the front, the SUV features a horizontal light bar integrated into a sculpted upper grille area. The split headlamp setup and trapezoidal lower intake include horizontal trim elements and what appears to be millimetre-wave radar equipment.

On the sides, the SUV features a high beltline and a full-length character line, complemented by floating-style side mirrors and hidden door handles. Side-view cameras are mounted between the fender and front door panels, and the charging port is located on the rear fender. The rear of the vehicle remains heavily camouflaged, but a wide light strip, as seen on the concept model, is expected to feature on the production version.

Mounted with drone system & lidar.

Advanced driver assistance and drone systems are featured on a test model

One notable detail on the test car is a roof-mounted lidar unit and a triple-camera array behind the windshield. These components suggest the SUV will be equipped with BYD’s “DiPilot Eye B” driver assistance system, which supports urban navigation, highway driving assist, and automated parking features.

The prototype also includes what appears to be BYD’s in-house developed drone system named “Lingyuan.” This drone platform has previously been showcased as part of concept vehicles but has yet to be introduced in a production model. Its presence may indicate that the prototype represents a high-spec variant.

Interior features a triple-screen setup and a family layout

Interior photos show a floating central touchscreen and a large digital instrument cluster. A passenger-side screen of similar size is also expected, along with BYD’s signature flat-bottom steering wheel and stalk-free gear shifter on the steering column.

The Dynasty-D concept featured a triple-screen setup and wireless phone charging on the centre console, along with six- and seven-seat configurations. These elements are likely to carry over to the production model.

No official powertrain details yet

BYD has not yet disclosed powertrain specifications. However, as a reference point, the current Tang L – another large SUV in the Dynasty lineup – is available in both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid configurations. Its PHEV version features a 1.5T engine and up to 200 kW front and rear motors, while the BEV version offers up to 670 km CLTC range and supports fast charging via dual ports, according to D-Auto.

Competitors include AITO M9 and Li Auto L9.

With an expected price of around 400,000 yuan (approximately 55,000 USD), the new BYD SUV is likely to compete with premium domestic full-size SUVs, such as the Aito M9, Li Auto L9 (409,800 yuan), and Lynk & Co 900. More official information, including final design and powertrain details, is expected closer to its launch later this year.
